This will be the origin of my trip. Please check back after May 28th, and see the progression of my trip. The map will display white dots from all the points that I've checked in from, and a larger white 'target' symbol where I last checked in from. The link at the top and bottom of the page will take you to a seperate webpage where you can see the pictures that I've shared from my new Sprint camera-phone.

I'll be on the road for 2 weeks, and I'm making a big loop all around the western portion of the United States. With a little luck, my friend Ben will be acompanying me.
I expect to be behind the wheel for a total of 98 hours over the two week period.
Oh, and don't expect very long posts here from now on. I'm typing this one on a real keyboard. From here on out, they'll be typed on a tiny phone!
See ya when I get back!

I'm here at work. In about 4 hours, I'll be on the road to Christopher, IL. I packed the truck in a rush this morning. It only took about 45 minutes. I hope I didn't forget anything!

Made it to Dad's place. Got to see Regan and her family. My nephew Matt is so cute! He's really starting to talk a lot now! "Whassat? Whassat? Whass inere?" He's adoreable! As soon as I get Sprint coverage again, I'll upload the pictures!

Went to breakfast this morning with my Dad, Regan, Dave (her husband), Little Matt and Brittany. Got to visit with Howard, Betty and Julie Isom. Then went to a big ass barbeque at Terry Dees place. (They're all related. You'd be amazed at how many people down here are related to me in some fasion or another!)

I made some modifications to the Jeep today too. The power inverter is now wired into the battery so I'll be able to run my navigation system (IBM Thinkpad, Delorme Street Atlas 2003, and Garmin GPS) for the rest of the trip. That'll make finding my way across the country much easier! I don't even have any idea what roads I'm going to take. It's all in the hands of the laptop now!

Early tomorrow morning I'm taking off for Amarillo, Texas. I actually bought sun block today! (I think that's the first time ever for me!) If there's one thing that I learned last time, it's that no matter how tan my arm is, it's going to burn if it's in the sun for 12 hours!

Next update will be from the road tomorrow morning... probably somewhere in Missouri.

You can't pump your own gas in Oregon. How retarded is that? I wonder if they expected a tip. Here's a tip for them: lobby your congressman to let ordinary people operate complex machines like gas pumps.

Yesterday, we went to Sean's friend's place to watch some shitty B rated horror movies. One was about killer watermelons that ate people's ankles. The other was about tits. I don't know what the rest of the move was about, but the director finally got the idea: if you don't have a good movie, put in lots of tits and it'll wont matter that your story sucks ass.

Sean and I spent most of today playing guitars. We went and jammed with his buddy Greg in the early afternoon, then jammed with his friends Jamie and Terry after that. It's been a while since I've played guitar for 7 hours straight! It was hella cool to jam with a full compliment again! It sure beats being at home playing with myself! (feel free to take that any way you like!)

I'm standing atop the Seattle Space Needle!
Date Posted:
Tue June 8th, 2004 5:56 am
Today we hit a lot of the sights in Seattle. I had to hit the observation deck of the Seattle Space Needle, and then subsequently drop a load of cash in their gift shop. Oh, and lets not forget the Starbucks at the top of the Needle! I had to have some, just to say that I drank a $4 coffee at the Needle.

Then we went to Dicks to grab a burger. Apparently, this is the Seattle hot spot for late night grub. Lots of bums and weirdos hanging out there too! The scenery was interesting, as we sat on the tailgate and chowed down.

I also got to pick the nose of a giant troll and give a concrete man bunny ears. We took a bunch of pics with Sean's camera. Those pics can be found here:

Sean and I are going to see Mount St. Helens today. The weather finally cleared, so we should get a pretty good view of the mountain, and all that it destroyed!

We hit Mount St. Helens today. All I can say is... WOW! The weather was looking pretty grim, but it made for some unique views of the volcano. Plus, since no one was around, Sean and I drove the Jeep right up onto the sidewalk and on up to the observation area! I've got some great pictures from there. I've added them to the collection at:
http://www.isomtech.com/images/roadtrip2004/

I'm going to pack up and leave from Washington tonight. That'll give me a head start on tomorrow's driving, and I'll actually have time to relax at my destination hotel instead of arriving and going straight to sleep! So it's back to the road I go, and coffee time isn't far behind!

Holy shit yesterday sucked! Montana was beautiful for the first 3 hours. During the 12 hours that followed, I changed my opinion. The wind was hellacious, and Sprint's cellular coverage is non existent. I haven't been able to post an update since my last! The wind still sucks ass, but at least I'm better rested today. Yeah I'm crazy. I decided to take off for another long journey in the wee hours. Right now I'm lost somewhere near Minnesota University. Some genius thought it would be smart to close I94 on me. I am not pleased. Oh well. I guess I'll get the lost tourist view of the city. Today was cool. Shad took me to a Twins game. Then we spent some time catching up. It's really been awesome seeing all these friends that I haven't seen in ages. This has to be the best road trip yet. My deepest thanks to every one along the way and to every one who tracked me on this web page. Next stop is home for a nap and then on to Brian's party.
